Mikki Firor, M.S., is a Gerontologist and Dementia Expert. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology with a minor in Human Services from Stevenson University and a Master’s Degree (Cum Laude) in Gerontology with a minor in Counseling from McDaniel College. After her time at the Baltimore Veterans Affairs Hospital in the Neuropsychology Department and Dementia Clinic, Mikki chose to specialize in Dementia.
During her employment at the Alzheimer’s Association, National Capital Area Chapter Mikki conducted professional training and spoke to the general public regarding dementia. As the director of a dementia unit in an assisted living facility, Mikki worked with professional caregivers, families, and individuals impacted by dementia through first hand interaction. She implemented best practices in the environment to maximize everyday and Activities of Daily Living independence while adhering to Virginia Assisted Living Facility State Regulations.
After working in nonprofit and for-profit Dementia organizations, she noticed a need that was not being met. With a passion to help everyone impacted by Dementia through the diagnosis, Trovato, LLC was launched.
Using her vast experience, she continues to train professionals, lead support groups, and educate the general public. As a dementia consultant and president of Trovato, LLC, Mikki provides education to professionals and care partners of those with dementia regarding neurological impact, safety, communication, management of behaviors, and best practices. She provides assessments that provide information to minimize challenges and maximize opportunities while improving the quality of life for those with dementia and their care partners.
